- What is Fixed Wire Electrical Testing?

Fixed Wire Electrical Testing is the inspection and testing of the
internal wiring within a building. It is a mandatory requirement of the
Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
- How often does Fixed Wire Testing have to be undertaken?

Once every five years.
- Does the whole of the fixed wire installation have to be tested?

If the installation has not been tested previously then the whole
installation has to be tested. If a certificate for the last Fixed Wire
Test undertaken is made available to the electrician then only 20% of
the installation needs to be tested.
- What documentation should I receive on completion of the Fix Wire Test?

Upon completion of the exercise you should be presented with a full
NICEIC report. If necessary a list of remedial works will be included
detailing any items that need to be attended to in order to bring your
installation up to a satisfactory condition.
- Who should undertake a Fixed Wire Test?

A competent electrician who is qualified to NICEIC level.
