Training needs analysis is the process of identifying the gap between employee skills and the actual training required to be undertaken. It is the first stage in the training process and involves a procedure to determine whether training will address the identified skills needed to do the job or role.
Training can be described as “the acquisition of skills, concepts or attitudes that result in improved performance within the job environment”.

The definition of competent is someone with the skills, knowledge and experience.
