C1 - Managers Appreciation of Working at Height

Target Group:
Managers, Engineers and Supervisors with a responsibility for reviewing work methods and implementing safe systems of work within the workforce.
Aims:
The purpose of this course is to identify the Employers' responsibilities in preventing accidents in the workplace and in particular the Work at Height Regulations 2005. It will help them to understand their legal obligations and assist developing safe working systems and procedures to ensure personnel can work safely.
Objectives and Course Content:
At the end of the instruction the candidates will be able to:
  • Understand the historical statistics about working at height
  • Understand the legislation and in particular the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety regulations 1999 and the Working at Height Regulations 2005
  • Understand the necessity for risk assessment
  • Identify workplace precaution hierarchies and the criteria for types of workplace precautions and controls
  • Review examples of unsafe working practices, carry out risk assessments and identify safe systems of work and types of access equipment to support the reviews
  • Distinguish hazards both generally and from an organisational point of view
Safety Requirements:
  • As the instruction is carried out on site, the clients' site regulations/requirements must be adhered to.
