C15 - IOSH Managing Safely Course

Duration:
Four Days
Target Group:
Managers and Engineers who require health and safety skills and knowledge within their sphere of influence.
Aims:
The purpose of this course is to ensure that safety requirements are appreciated by people employed as line managers and to enable them to review their own departmental systems for safety. Introduce new controls or implement changes as appropriate.
Objectives:
At the end of the course candidates will be able to:
  • Outline the main provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • Compare Safety Management systems
  • Procedures and techniques in management reviews
  • Identify workplace precautions and control
  • Describe legal requirements for risk assessments
  • Prepare and use active monitoring checklists and implement schedules

As part of the course a practical assessment (project) has to be completed by all participants. This is based on a structured assessment of the individual's working environment or location of his/her choice. The project can either be completed within the course period (work periods outside of course time) or within two weeks of the completion of the course.
