C3 - Scaffold Inspection

Target Group:
Any person(s) who, as part of their working duties are responsible for inspection of scaffolds on site.
Aims:
The aim of the training is to provide candidates with the necessary information on the correct procedures to be adopted when inspecting scaffolding.
Objectives:
At the end of the instruction the candidates will be able to:
  • Have an understanding of the statutory regulations
  • Identify scaffold components and equipment
  • Understand types of scaffold structures
  • Have a basic knowledge of methods of construction
  • Identify hazards and problems in working scaffolds
  • Understand the reasons for ties and loadings

  • What is a scaffold, types, uses and limitations?
  • Identifying scaffold components, and terminology
  • Tubes, fitting and boards
  • Safe use of ladders and steps on site
  • Reasons for ties and loadings
  • The use of gin wheels and pulleys on scaffolds
  • Practical inspection exercise
  • Inspection and tagging documentation

Safety Requirements:
  • As the instruction is carried out on site, the clients' site regulations/requirements must be adhered to.
  • PPE must be worn at all times throughout the instruction.
